A Medical Laboratory Scientist has emerged as one of the winners of the March 8th initiative 2021 Health Grant Reward.
Ayodele Ajayi Israel, a Medical Laboratory Scientists with the World Health Organization (WHO) National Polio Laboratory, University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, Borno State is among the 34 Health Workers shortlisted as winners of the category because of their contributions to the development of the health sector in the past year. Winners get a Health Grant Reward of one million Naira (₦1,000,000) for their invaluable service to their communities.
The March 8th Initiative is a brainchild of the “Friends of Prof” organized to inspire and promote communal, entrepreneurial, and public-spirited endeavors within Nigeria in honor of the birthday of His Excellency, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, GCON.
The initiative has categories as My Big Idea Business Challenge (₦100, 000), My Business Support Category (₦250, 000), My Catalyst Support Challenge (₦500, 000), and My Bold Innovation Challenge (₦1, 000,000)
This year, the March 8th Initiative expanded in terms of reach and scope to include Health Grant Reward to recognize health workers nationwide who, in an extremely difficult time, continue to exhibit compassion, diligence, hard work, and professionalism in carrying out their duties.
Winners who are health workers emerged after being nominated, pass through a thorough screening and verification process before being shortlisted as winners.
