The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, his Excellency Udom Emmanuel has directed the honourable Commissioner of Health in the State to set up a monitoring team to ensure the standardization of all medical laboratories operational in Uyo, the State Capital.
This according to a statement from the honourable Commissioner for Information and Strategy of Akwa Ibom State Comrade Ini Ememobong is “arising from the alarming rise in the discrepancies in medical laboratories results, which have led to avoidable deaths in the State”.
The statement which is an excerpt of the Akwa Ibom State Executive Council meeting held on September 1, 2021, at the Executive Council Chambers of the Governor’s Office also gives Medical Laboratories Owners a 7-day ultimatum “to conform to global best practices or close down their offices”.
