Ex-NIMASA DG calls for New Template in confronting Disease Outbreaks
A former Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) Dr. Dakuku Peterside has called for a “new template, one that is proactive, to confront intractable disease outbreaks” in the Country.
According to him, “the new template will involve early detection and rapid response strategies, increased investment in research and development, and the establishment of a robust healthcare infrastructure”.
Dr. Dakuku Peterside made the call while delivering a Speech in his capacity as the Chairman of the 18th Annual Lecture and National Executive Council Meeting (NEC) of the Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria (AMLSN), which took place on May 24, 2024, in Abakiliki, Ebonyi State capital.
Similarly , the Ex-NIMASA Boss and Medical Laboratory Scientist emphasised the need to prioritise and invest in medical laboratory services stressing that in doing so, we honour our commitment to safeguarding public health, protecting vulnerable populations, and creating a healthier future for all.
The event which has its theme as “Mitigating intractable disease outbreaks through strengthened medical laboratory services,” saw the conferment of the Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria Award of Excellence in Governance and Leadership on the Governor of Ebonyi State , His Excellency Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru.
